Omololu International School Offers Exciting Curriculum For Pre-Schoolers and Kindergarteners
Omololu International School is now inviting student registrations for the Academic School Year commencing in September 2013 for students between the ages of 3 years and 12 years old. Omololu International School (OIS) is committed to provide quality education of an international standard. For the upcoming Fall 2013 Term Omololu International School will offer an exciting, holistic program specially designed for pre-school and kindergarteners.
Experiences during the early years lay the foundations for all future learning. Research indicates that the rapid rate of development that occurs in the physical, social, emotional, intellectual and aesthetic domains is particularly significant for further development. Development is unique in each child, occurring at varying rates from child to child. For many children, these early years also mark the first transition from home to group experiences outside of the family and to new physical environments. Omololu International School strives to make this adjustment as successful as possible by encouraging the development of secure and trusting relationships with new adults and peers.
Young children need extended periods of time and as much space as possible to explore, investigate and play, with a variety of materials, in order to learn about themselves, other people and the world around them. The school environment needs to have a range of clearly defined areas to encourage the exploration, investigation and play, both inside and outdoors. These will include spaces for reading, writing, art, construction, imaginative play and science and technology, with a wide variety of appropriate resources in each. Children’s interactions in and with these spaces stimulates them to become active learners.
Instead of teaching only single subjects like Math and English, the OIS will incorporate a program of inquiry. For young children two themes are considered fundamentally relevant to all young children and are required; these are: “ Who We Are” and “How We Express Ourselves”. Children learn best when new knowledge is related to the child’s first-hand experience. For young children, inquiry is demonstrated by wondering, exploring and investigating (collecting data), synthesizing and theorizing. They express their ideas in a variety of mediums and through play and reflection. To prepare children for the modern world, the powerful tool of Information Communications Technology will be fully incorporated in the teaching and learning setting. Children at OIS will be given the opportunity for exploration using technology in a playful, supportive environment.
