The sounds of summer will fill the air on July 7th as the first day of the Omololu Summer Camp begins…
Hosted at the Omololu International School, students will have access to all the latest educational technology; as well as a fully functional playground. Staffed by a team of dedicated individuals, the Camp will provide a variety of fun and educational activities for children from ages 4-12. The camp will run from 9am-3pm from Monday-Friday and consist of week -long programs built up around the following themes:
- Anguilla and Caribbean Fun: Learn about Anguilla, and its neighbours history, culture and fun through various activities and field trips.
- Around the World in 30 Hours: Around watching the movie Around the World in 80 Days, we will “travel” through countries around the world each day and experience the country’s history, climate, sports, people, culture, art, food and fun.
- Water and Everything Moves: This week, is all about encouraging children to get out and play! And of course it wouldn’t be summer if they didn’t get wet! We will also incorporate water based games and activities.
- Circus and Carnival: Children will end the month on a festive note, with tutorials in face painting, balloon twisting, clowning and acrobatics. Upon graduation from ‘Académie de Cirque’ students will be invited to participate in the Kiddie Parade on August 8, 2014.
In addition, English, Math, Modern Languages and the Sciences will be incorporated into the themes so not only will they have fun be will have an educational experience as well.
To bring about awareness of the upcoming camp, Program Director, Ms. Régine Niles has been visiting the primary schools with Rose the Clown, one of the facilitators for the Circus and Carnival themed week. The children were all very excited and had the opportunity to see their Principals and sometimes teachers learn the fine art of balloon twisting. (See pictures below)
